Known for their company and passenger carrier reputation, Korean Air Lines is one of the most well known airlines in the business. Its primary hub is located in Seoul, South Korea. Providing service to almost 50 different countries, they service international and domestic flights. They also provide cargo hauling to international destinations as well as passenger flights. Their cargo hubs have also expanded to various areas of Asia. Research and development is a primary component of this companies focus within the aviation industry. Research in the aerospace industry is a primary focus of Korean Air.
Over the years, Korean Air has received a reasonable amount of honors in the aviation industry. Not too long ago, Time magazine acknowledged Korean Air for their flying excellence. Best Business Class Airline and Best First Class were both of the credits that KAL received. Not only that, but they have been deemed to have the Best Frequent Flyer Program. During the same time period, OAG Airline of the year awards bestowed Korean Air Lines with the distinction of Best Economy Class Airline. That seems to cover the full range of what is normally offered the flying public.
Since the very beginning, Korean Air Lines has always focused on keeping its air fleet up to date. Cargo ferrying, and passenger carriers, are part of their wide variety of aircraft.
Some of their aircraft are solely used for development and research for aerospace. It took them just a few short years to expand beyond the boundaries of the domestic front. New routes to North America and Europe appeared in the middle of the 70s once they acquired the right aircraft. They were one of the first to purchase Airbus airliners for routes that traveled to Asia proper and the Pacific Rim.
Korean Air has long been involved with research and manufacturing for the aerospace industry. A strong point for this company, they will continue to expand in this area. Creating a variety of licensed versions of aircraft, Korean Air Aerospace Division’s research department continues to be strong. Two of their more well-known aircraft are UH-60 Black Hawk helicopters and the MD-500. They also have several other manufacturing projects for other types of military aircraft that are licensed. As you can see, Korean Air has branched out into several other areas and provides various transport needs for the military.
Korean Air Lines has been involved with many specialized areas of the aviation industry for many years. Their longtime relationship with aerospace research development gives them a foot in the door in these areas. This airline is an excellent example of what really is not so unusual for a lot of similar airlines. Struggling through difficult times, they made it through those many unexpected events. Despite all of this, they continued to improve and remained in business. Much of their revenue has been generated through the research they did with aerospace. They also have plans to expand and build relationships with the United States and other airline companies.
